This is the season of giving thanks and, at Chapel Hill Press, the greatest blessing we had this year—and actually for the past three years—was the presence of our Publishing Director Luz Alva-Bullock.
Luz embraced and embodied the spirit and mission of Chapel Hill Press in everything she did. She made each author a personal friend, and treated every publishing project as if it were her own book.
With a combination of sophisticated charm and wicked humor, she brightened our office and made every workday better. Her contributions were major, and she made an indelible positive mark on this organization.
This fall Luz moved back to her longtime home in New Jersey, but I like to think she left a part of her heart here with us in Chapel Hill.
So Thanksgiving is bittersweet this year. Thanks for everything, Luz, and Godspeed as you embark on exciting new ventures!
