Book Launch on the Coast

Master storyteller and Outer Banks treasure Elvin Hooper has just published his second book, Gull Island and Other Stories. Cape Hatteras islanders and tourists alike gathered at Buxton Village Books on October 16 to hear Mr. Hooper tell stories and sing songs about the island life he loves. This latest publication is packed full of tales about his boyhood adventures (and misadventures) working with his father, a hunting and fishing guide for the Gull Island Gunning Club.

His first book, Chicamacomico, fascinated readers with its depiction of life on the isolated island before there were roads and electricity. With a head full of memories and tales, Elvin is likely to delight us with another publication before too long.
