Printing
Chapel Hill Press works with a number of printers who:
- can do smaller print runs (as opposed to those who do
only very high-volume commercial jobs) and
- have a track record of producing quality product.
The first criterion we use in selecting the printer for
your book is the cost-effectiveness of the printing method
in relation to the number of copies you have ordered for
the first printing. Generally speaking,
- For three hundred (300) or fewer copies, we select from
a group of printers who specialize in electronic printing.
- For more than three hundred (300) copies, we select from
a group of printers who specialize in traditional offset
printing.
- If your project involves four-color process (i.e., color
cover and/or illustrations), we select from a group of
printers who specialize in that kind of work. Please note
that four-color process is more complex and time consuming
(for more details, see the "Illustrations" service description),
but if it's called for, we definitely can accommodate your
needs.
The final selection is based on two criteria: 1) a competitive-bidding
process and 2) a printer's availability to perform the work
within the scheduling constraints of your project. |
